Preparation + Positioning
Upon arrival, the patient undresses from the waist down and lies on an examination table. A pelvic examination may be conducted, and pain relief might be recommended.
IUD Insertion
A speculum is placed into the vagina to access the cervix. After cleaning, the IUD is inserted into the uterus using an applicator tube. Strings attached to the IUD, which extend slightly out of the cervix, are trimmed to length.
Post-Insertion Care
The patient is instructed on how to check the strings periodically and is advised to schedule a follow-up. Aftercare includes avoiding vaginal insertions for a short period.
