Frown lines, the creases that form from furrowing your brow, and forehead lines can not only age you prematurely, but they also can cause you to look worried or displeased, even when you’re not.
BotoxⓇ was one of the first cosmetic treatments aimed at alleviating these problems, and it’s become a tried-and-true, safe, and effective treatment.
Dr. Pamela Kimbrough and the Life’s Cycle Women’s Care team in Ardmore and Norman, Oklahoma, have designed the practice to meet your needs, whether you’re visiting for a well-woman exam, getting treated for a chronic condition, or seeking a solution to make you look and feel better about yourself.
We know that your self-esteem plays an important part in your vitality and well-being, which is why we offer Botox to our patients.
What is Botox and how does it work?
Botox is a purified neurotoxin derived from Clostridium botulinum, a type of bacteria that, if ingested, causes the serious illness botulism. Fortunately, when it’s delivered in controlled doses via injection to your face, Botox paralyzes the facial muscles that are treated and temporarily prevents them from moving.
Treatment injections are highly targeted and address wrinkles that form through repeated movements you make with your face when expressing yourself. Since your treatment prevents communication between your nerves and muscles, your treated muscles no longer contract, which smoothes those wrinkles.
Botox’s many benefits
Dr. Kimbrough opted to offer Botox treatments to her patients after careful consideration. She adopted Botox because:
- Its formula is safe and FDA-approved
- Treatments are brief, averaging 10 minutes
- Injections are painless
- Post-treatment downtime is minimal
- Results are long-lasting, up to four months and longer, depending on the individual
These advantages have made Botox the most requested cosmetic procedure in the country.
The feedback we get from our patients about their Botox results is consistently positive. If you’re concerned that these treatments might not look natural, don’t worry. Botox smooths your skin and improves how you look, but it does so subtly.
When you come for a Botox treatment
We put you at ease immediately when you arrive for your appointment. To prepare for your treatment, we’ll apply some topical numbing agent to the spot to be addressed. The most you feel is a slight pinch as we administer the injection.
After your treatment, you may experience slight bruising, which clears up quickly. You’re able to return to normal life immediately after your appointment, and you start to see Botox doing its work within 24-48 hours.
