What is Intense Pulsed Light?

Our LaserScope Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is a treatment that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, the signs of photo aging, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small veins, and other blemishes.  It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, through a process known as photorejuvenation.

How is Photorejuvenation performed?

A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated.   The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied.  You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band.  Treatment is generally administered in a series of 3-5 sessions.  The IPL treatment offers excellent long-term results with minimal adverse effects.  Each treatment takes about 30 minutes.

What conditions can Photorejuvenation  treat?

Facial imperfections or abnormalities can detract from your well-being and appearance, no matter how healthy and young you feel.  IPL technology helps create smoother looking skin.   LaserScope IPL can treat a wide variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Hemangiomas –  A birthmark often appearing as a rubbery, bright red nodule of extra blood vessels.
  • Warts
  • Port Wine Stain also commonly called a firemark, is almost always a birthmark; in rare cases it can develop in early childhood. It is caused by a vascular anomaly.
  • Solar Lentigos – Age spots; are flat tan, brown or black spots. They vary in size and usually appear on the face, hands, shoulders and arms – areas most exposed to the sun.
  • Venus Lake – Generally solitary, soft, compressible, dark blue to violaceous, 0.2- to 1-cm papule commonly found on sun-exposed surfaces of the vermilion border of the lip, face and ears. Lesions generally occur among the elderly.

It’s also great for:
